Location
With Highway 75 and Route 41 going well inland, to pass Cape Haze Peninsula and Charlotte Harbour, the area has been traditionally missed by the crowds as they travel from Sarasota / Venice down the coast to Fort Myers and beyond. Blessed with the beautiful waters of Lemon Bay and Gulf of Mexico, life in Englewood conjures up countless opportunities: basking in the sun, strolling on a sandy beach, miles of sparkling water, reeling in a super catch, teeing off a fabulous fairway, dining on seafood while overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, a climate that is nearly perfect year round - all this and more is daily fare in Englewood. It's located about two thirds of the way down Florida's west coast, 85 miles south of Tampa and 50 miles north of Fort Myers straddling the two counties of Sarasota & Charlotte.

Villa Shangri-la is situated in the deed restricted community of Rotonda Circle, Englewood, close to Port Charlotte on the Cape Haze Peninsula and 36 miles south of Sarasota. The properties in Rotonda have been constructed around lakes, golf courses and canals. In addition part of the area has been dedicated as a nature reserve. For the nature lovers amongst us, the area has a wide variety of wildlife including raccoons, tortoises, turtles, armadillo, many species of birds and of course the obligatory alligators.

For those who love beach life - picture fine white sandy beaches - often deserted, where your only neighbours are the wild birds fishing for lunch in the warm blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The view from the beach could also include playful dolphins and slow moving endangered Manatees. All this is yours after a short drive of approximately ten minutes.

To capture the beauty of these sites hire your own boat from one of the many local hire companies. This will allow you to discover the beautiful islands that can only be accessed by sea, such as Don Pedro Island and Cabbage Key - remember to pack a picnic and your sun cream.

Englewood, Florida, has been called the "Gem of the Suncoast," "the Heart of the Suncoast," "a bit of Heaven on Earth," "a place unspoiled by high rises and high prices," and "where the livin' is easy," yet it still remains one of Florida's best kept secrets - a secret about which more and more Floridians and "up north" tourists are learning.

Englewood and its year-round residents retain the easy-going lifestyle of a small, close-knit community, which invites family and special guests back each season to revel in the secret it holds dear. This unspoken secret emanates throughout Englewood, a community of communities, sitting comfortably on an area straddling two counties, harboured by several small islands and magnificent beaches in a tropical setting.

While nourishing its small town atmosphere and keeping its sense of history, Englewood also rises to the demands of growth and modernisation, keeping up with new ideas and ways to maintain its way of life. Englewood is a beach community that thrives on its cultural events, nature parks, beaches, fishing, boating, and so much more. Englewood has an environment that has visitors coming back year after year.
